A trip to Rat Island!!!

This past weekend we took an adventure to a place called Rat Island! Supposedly, it was called Rat Island because there was a legend about buried treasure on the island, and they called it Rat Island so that no one would want to go there! Fortunately, there are no rats on the island that I saw!

This is the view from the docks. . .

We boarded the boat around 10:00, and began the hour long boat ride!

Do you see the tiny island right in between the two peninsulas?
That's Rat Island!

The view from the boat was absolutely amazing!!!

We saw a bunch of fishermen on the way there. . .

WOW.

I love that you can see the perfect reflection of the mountains in the still water. . .

Surprisingly, there were only a few houses along the edge of the water. . .

Gorgeous. Just plain gorgeous.

The boat ride was so beautiful, I actually almost ran my camera dead, before we even got there!

Here's Rat Island, about a half hour to go!

Closer and closer!

Here we are at last!

Every Tuesday, tourists come to Rat Island, so every Monday, people come and rake up all the driftwood and trash off the beach! Unfortunately for us, we came on a Saturday, so there was some trash. But it was still BEAUTIFUL.

The whole time we were there, fishermen were constantly rowing up to us with fresh caught lobster, crab, and fish. We didn't have a cooler to take any of it back with us, so we had to turn them down.

One guy that came up to us was literally skin-and-bones. We hated to turn him down, since obviously he was very poor. When we told him we had no way of taking them back with us, he said he would cook them for us right there on the beach. So we bought a crab and some fish from him!

The crab was HUGE.

We found a pretty purple fish, which we gave to him to cook up.

He literally started a fire, and laid the seafood across the sticks.
No pots, no tools, no nothing.

Surprisingly, it was awesome!

I love the colors of the Caribbean fish! (Even if they are burning on a fire!)

 Yum, Yum!

We even had a little crab come and join us for some lunch!

The beach was littered with conch shells. . .

Along with a couple sea buns. . .

After a long day,  I think we all enjoyed the beautiful boat ride home.

Thanks so much for reading my blog!

See ya next time!

A new place and new little animals...!

Since it was Matt's Birthday a few days ago, we decided to find a new restaurant and surprise him with it! We found a place called Habitation Jouissant! It has an amazing view and the food is pretty good so... we are definitely going back!

Here's a little waiting area. . .

There was a table with some antiques on it, which I found interesting. . .
Though I'm not exactly sure what this is. . .

There was also some orchids growing off of a tree. . .

The main colors of the restaurant were neon green and purple. . .

I was so tempted to... actually, I did play it.

The chandelier was kinda cool. . .

GORGEOUS.

I love the little couches!

The dining area. . .

This is the view of Cap-Haitian off the balcony. . . Wow.

You can eat in the dining area or by the pool!

And there is the pool!

Sitting area over the ocean. . .
The "Specials" menu. . .

I like the random tree in the middle of the floor. . .

Another chandelier!

Our table. . . maybe. I don't really know.

I just loved the set-up!

About a week and a half to two weeks ago (I can't remember exactly when) we were at the Ayars house watching a movie. It was getting late so I decided to come back to the house. I go to reach for the door handle, and I screamed and jumped back, covering my face. Not even knowing what I screamed about, I turned back to the door. And then I realized why I had screamed.
I had almost just gotten a handful of tarantula.
So, I run back to the Ayars house and they asked me why I had screamed. I went on to tell them the story I just told you and Stacy says: " Yes! I was right it was a tarantula!"
They had been trying to guess what had scared me!

Now for some good news. . .

Yesyerday, the Ayars cat, Cally, had her kittens!!!
Here's her licking the fist one clean!

As we were watching a show at the Ayars house she had two kittens!

They. Are. ADORABLE!!!

Awwwwwww...

I went to bed last night thinking, "It's good that Cally only had two kittens so that its easier to find a good home for one of them. As I was uploading these previous pictures to this blog this morning Lily came up to our door. She sayed she wanted to show me something cool about the kittens. So I said,
"Like I should go and get my camera, cool?"
"Yes!"
When I get to her house, Stacey proceeds to tell me that there are now four kittens!

The one on the very top of the pile is my favorite since it looks like a cheetah!
That's why I'm calling it Cheetah until they pick a name!

That is a big, furry, bundle of cuteness right there!

Nap time!

And that's all for today!

See you next time!
