Halloween and Fall Fun!

Can you believe it's already November?
Well as you know from earlier blogs, we always have a Halloween party at our house! And this year the costumes got a little bit better...

For the party I made these cupcakes (yes, all by myself)...

Even Pepper got dressed up! (He's supposed to be a unicorn, but he didn't really enjoy it.)

My family... (Mom is Flo from Progressive, Rosa is Christina and I'm Tris (both from Divergent), Ethan was an apple, and Dad was... well, he was a dork)

Rosa with Wonder Woman and Super Girl.

The girls had lots of fun playing little games we had set up around the house!

Mom helping Lily-bean make a pumpkin...

Of course we have our Harry Potter crew!
Belatrix LeStrange, Dobby, Luna and Professor Quirrell...

Even Pam dressed up as a ghost!

After a fun little party, we wrapped up our Halloween fun at the Ayars house for a dinner together!

I've really been enjoying singing in chapel with my mom as you know...

Just hearing the students sing with all their hearts, especially when they're singing in English, is touching every week...

Thanks for reading this blog!

Stay tuned...

Fall Break in the Dominican Republic!

This year for fall break at Emmaus our family, the Ayars, the Sleasmans, and our visiting professor Pam took a trip to the Dominican Republic for a much needed fall break!

We ate at a few really good sea-side restaurants!

Sofie being goofy in Ethan's hat.... She's so cute.

We took a trip to the nearest public beach, and I was like: Woah.

Isn't it amazing?

The geography that I had the privilege to witness was such a blessing. God amazes me everyday with something new in His marvelous creation.

I am so thankful for my dorky brother.

My Dad carved this into the rock. He's so sweet.

Rosa, Ethan and I had a blast attempting to climb the mountain!

(That's me!)

These two weirdos are pretty much the best.

Love this chick...

The cutest couple I know...

This place is somewhere I definitely want to visit again...

I had a great, relaxing weekend, swimming in the pool and at the beach with these lovely folks!

Thanks so much for reading this blog!

Back Into The Swing Of Things

As you all know, we live and work at an amazing seminary in Haiti, and I feel like we're finally back into the swing of things!
I started singing with my mom in chapel again...

Rosa began teaching some of our students Spanish!
She is a great teacher, and she has lots of students!

And I started tutoring students in English two days a week again! Last year I had 6 students at the most, and this year I had 20. You can imagine my face when I walked into that classroom: terrified. I was shaky at first, but after a few minutes of stumbling through my words, I got comfortable. By the end of the class I was laughing and joking with them. I tutor the group of 15-25 beginners on Mondays, and a group of 10-20 more advanced students on Tuesdays! I love it! Now that I'm comfortable with the amount of students, it's something I look forward to doing every week!

I love our little garden. We have lots of baby plants, and I'm so excited for harvest time!

We can't buy sweet corn in Haiti, so we planted some for ourselves! I'm so excited to see how they turn out, even if we only get a few ears!
My dad has been hard at work over the past couple weeks with our never-ending list of things to do! One thing he has been working on is finishing up our new office building. It still needs lots of work, but it's coming along.

You might not expect to find it here, but one thing that never ceases to amaze me is Haiti's natural beauty.

Thanks for reading this short little update!

My Summer in the States

Hey Guys! It's been a while, huh? Well, that's because we were busy in the States!
We started off our summer in Sabetha, Kansas for 4th of July weekend!
Stacey and Lily flew in too!

Our time in Kansas was perfect. We had a fun and relaxing weekend with great people!

After our trip, we went to New Jersey! Jersey's where we are originally from,
if you didn't already know that.

We went to this awesome church for a weekend camp called "Jericho Road Project", where we helped the people of the community. It was fantastic! Ethan and I had a blast making new friends, playing games and working hard!

One of my favorite parts of coming back to the US is camp! Delanco Camp is practically home for me in Jersey.

I don't know how many of you attended the Emmaus concert with Sidewalk Prophets in Delaware, but it was AMAZING.

Getting to see the Ayars again before Haiti was great! (And I got to hold baby Nora for the first time!)

Sidewalk Prophets are an awesome band! I really enjoyed hanging out with them before the concert!

After a great time with friends and family, our family went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a family vacation!

Rosa has been a great friend, and an amazing "sister" for me! I really enjoy having her around!

We had a blast on the beach...

Hanging out together...

Looking for alligators...

And finding them...

Being dorks...

Going to the aquarium...

Eating amazing food, and being with the family that I love.

I had a great time with family, at camp, enjoying time with friends, and relaxing,
but it sure is good to be home.
