Great times with great friends...

This past week my best friend Leigha Burnley came with a team from West Park United Methodist Church!
I went to the airport to pick them up too. . .

If you cant tell by the picture my best friend is on the left. . .                                                                                            

Kristine Burnley (Leigha's mom) and Kelly Williams both worked their tails off in our garden!
It used to be so filled with weeds you couldn't see an inch of the actually ground. . .

They did great! (Plus now I don't have to weed!)

We had a night with the students at the seminary called Conversational English Night. All of the team and my family participated. We all split up and sat at different tables. Then the students came and sat with whoever they wanted. We had conversations with them in English, though I had to use Crenglish (a combo of Creole and English) because I had all first year students at my table and they were still learning English! Leigha and I had a lot of fun, in the end, when we ran out of time, a lot of the students were complaining about it being such a short time! Both Leigha and I gave our emails to the people sitting at our table! When I offered to help them with learning English, they all thanked me with tears in their eyes!
All together it was a great experience!

Before the team left we took them to Dhaloo Beach. I was diving underwater with Leigha the whole time so I didn't get much pictures. . .
We took a boat taxi to Dhaloo. . .

While we were swimming I came upon a sea bun. . .
Sea buns are a lot like sand dollars except they aren't flat. . .

Sadly the team had to leave after staying for a week. I went with them to the airport and we prayed together before letting them get on the plane. I will really miss the time spent with the team and I will always treasure it in my heart.

Pepper is as crazy and cute as ever. . .

Over these past couple of weeks the sunsets and sunrises have been absolutely brilliant. . .
I love that God has sense of creativity. . .

We had a BEAUTIFUL rainbow in front of the mountain behind our house. . .

This month I hiked to Coup A David (which is creole for "Mount of David"). I went with Stacey and Lily, Rod (a guy helping with work on the seminary), Don Hulmes (a close friend from our church in Jersey), and me!
It was kind of a last minute decision, but I had tons of fun! I was so excited to have the chance to take care of myself: I got up before my parents, made my bed, made my own breakfast, and pack for hiking!

The view on the ride to Coup A David is amazing!

The people in the nearby villages have started working on the roads and it is looking great so far!

This is an actual village house.
It is made out of different types of plants weaved together...

(Don, Lily, and Rod all had a good time playing follow the leader!)

This is one of my absolute favorite flowers ever!

In some spots the path was very narrow...
On the other side of this picture it is literally almost straight down.
You have to hold onto shrubs and bushes trying not to slip down the ground which is crumbling out from under your feet!

Last time we went to Coup A David we built a little bridge out of rocks... It is still there!

Unfortunately, Lily slipped down a little hill while looking at baby pigs...

She was crying till I told her it made her look tough and cool, then she couldn't wait to get home and show her Dad!





















 
 Part of the reason I enjoy Haiti so much is because there is a lot of mountains. In the United States there is a lot of city, Haiti is very mountainous and tropical...!

baby goats!

Only about a month after I got here, I noticed how fat all the female goats were getting.
I asked my dad if they were pregnant and he told me goats ate a lot and that they were probably just fat.
But he didn't look at them. One day I asked him to come visit the goats with me, and when he got there he said these words: "Wow, these goats are definitely pregnant."

We waited and waited and waited for baby goats-for what felt forever!- and finally, one of the least
expected goats, had her kids a couple weeks ago!

But not only one goat had babies…

But, again, not only two goats had kids…

The white one came right up to me, so close I could reach out and pick it up!

And again, not only three goats had kids…

(These pictures are from the point of birth till ten minutes after!)

This time I actually got to witness the birth!

Within fifteen minutes from the birth, the mom had licked the babies clean, the babies had started
walking, and the mom was walking around like nothing ever even happened! I think its amazing how God designed nature to take care of it's self so well!


I'm sure you want to hear how Pepper is doing, right? Well he is doing great! He and Boone are best friends now too! The Grosses even brought their new puppy, Buddy, over to my house to play,
and the whole time, Buddy and Pepper were wrestling and chasing each other! Even though Pepper loves to play he still sleeps a lot…

Pepper is a very funny dog…
Every time I get out my camera Pepper always poses…

Whenever I look up I see birds flying overhead. But I never actually realized what kind of birds were flying above me. One day I looked up and saw a flock of what looked like plain blackbirds, but when they swooped down towards me, I realized they were parrots! Their bodies were a beautiful green color with bright red wings! And again yesterday I looked out from the porch and saw this beautiful bird…

I don't know if you can tell but the bird's head and belly are bright orange, his neck has a ring of light grey feathers, and the rest of his body is denim blue!

I love how I have so many opportunities to experience nature here in Haiti!
